Business Analyst (contract)

Are you a Business Analyst with experience in books or journals publishing looking for a new opportunity to join a thriving publishing solutions and consultancy business? You will bring business process experience and technical understanding to this 6-9 month fixed term contract position and will spend a significant amount of time working client side, mostly with publishers in London, Cambridge and Oxford.  The role can be home based when not visiting clients, but a London office is also available.

Key duties:

  • Work closely with publishers to maintain up-to-date business knowledge and suggest business process improvements
  • Identify and make recommendations for business process or system improvements aligned to changing business needs
  • Collect, analyse and document business, functional and data requirements in order to define deliverables
  • Work with product vendors, implementation partners, and technology teams to ensure delivery of robust technical specifications and solutions that meet requirements
  • Produce supporting materials, help conduct training and support the business users during the system implementation
  • Support the business product owner in order to ensure that all stakeholders’ needs are taken into account and correctly represented
  • Secure buy-in from business and technology stakeholders and maintain this throughout the project lifecycle, in order reach successful completion and adoption

Experience / skills required:

  • Established Business Analyst experience in publishing, ideally books or journals
  • Experience working in a project delivery environment with Project Managers, business stakeholders, 3rd party vendors and other internal technology resources
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of analysis principles, practices and techniques
  • Understanding of project management principles both waterfall and agile
  • Ability to present and communicate technology led opportunities to the business
  • Highly organised, proactive and an adaptable, result-focussed self-starter
  • A Business Analyst qualification is desirable but not essential
