Business Development Manager

A highly successful independent academic publisher of books, journals and digital products in the HSS area is looking for a highly motivated person to join their Services Division in the role of Business Development Manager. This is a fabulous, varied role where you will work in collaboration with colleagues in the academic sector. The role will be responsible for managing existing and new business for their Services portfolio, and will act as a conduit between the research sector and the business, ensuring that what the company develops meets the needs of the sector.

This is a remote working role, with some occasional travel to the office and conferences as required.

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities will involve:

  • Identifying customer prospects for the company’s Services portfolio and closing new business
  • Leading the Services growth plans, with sector feedback and market insight
  • Develop relationships with international sales teams in developing and nurturing new leads into the pipeline
  • Support academic institutions with implementing and onboarding new services
  • Identify partnership and business opportunities where appropriate
  • Provide training/support to partner institutions to ensure the organisation is up to date on the research landscape

You will be someone who can connect with the wider Research Impact communities to update knowledge and develop peer relations, with the ability to take something new and blend the approach with a soft sale.
