Business Development Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity for a customer-focused Business Development professional with a genuine interest in scientific publishing. Our client is a not-for-profit publisher with a focus on environmental and agricultural developments across the globe, and they are looking for a Business Development manager to drive the growth of their digital platform.

This person will play a key role in growing the performance and financial outcome of an editorially independent digital platform, which has become a global leading source of reliable and authoritative news on science and technology for global development.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the Commercial Director and the Sales and KAM teams to grow the platform and generate new revenue streams from both public and private sector organisations
  • Building new business partnerships operating at regional, project and thematic levels
  • Identifying new revenue opportunities for the platform's training programme, while ensuring the sustainability of free training opportunities
  • Building a pipeline of new opportunities for sponsored content
  • Working with colleagues internally to build awareness around the company and the digital platform, and specifically around training services and products

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building relationships and revenue opportunities managing customers, and good pipeline management skills. This role will revolve around building relationships with the customers, hence why good communications skills, negotiation and presentations skills are very important.
