Category Buying Manager (Books)

A fast-growing online books retailer is looking for a Buying Manager to join their agile and busy team to manage the buying strategy for their website. You will work closely with Marketing and Merchandising team to curate offers against seasonal and promotional calendar.

This role is a home-based 3 days a week role and ideally looking for someone to join mid-November/December.

Key duties:

  • Understand customer needs, market trends and activity of key competitors
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the promotional and seasonal calendar
  • Utilise the company’s relationships with all major publishers and wholesalers
  • Generate and maintain an ongoing purchasing budget
  • Work with marketing and branding teams to raise awareness of deals through on-site marketing

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid and proven experience working in publishing or book retail
  • Demonstrable track record of having managed buying budgets and executed successful buying initiatives
  • Working knowledge in understanding e-commerce sales metrics and web analytics
  • Good understanding of SEO principles especially when creating regular blog posts
  • Proficient in Excel and MS office applications
