Childrens Commissioning Editor, Trade Books (London)
Award-winning independent publisher seeks a Childrens Commissioning Editor for a Maternity Cover role for a min 9 months, possibly longer. You’ll work across children books from picture books up to Young Adult.
The Commissioning Editors role is to lead the imprint and work across children books right up to Young Adult. This relatively small list is growing fast, the publisher produces thought-provoking, original stories from around the world that expand the choices available to young readers.
The Childrens Commissioning Editors Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Editor to lead the imprint and work across children books up to Young Adult. The diverse list boasts bestselling international authors as well as a growing number of talented home-grown writers.
This position offers the chance to shape and grow the childrens and Young Adult list, and we’re looking for an experienced, motivated and commercially aware Commissioning Editor with a track record of acquiring and working closely with both debut as well as the established authors.
Candidates will show they can run successful and profitable commissioning projects and have strong communication and negotiation skills. You will need good understanding and experience in the YA/children’s book market combined with your structural editing skills and be able to bring out the best in your authors.
We welcome all candidate applications that are emerging childrens editors to the more experienced commissioning editor level, ideally you need to have good contacts with agents and some authors.
The salary range is very attractive and will depend on the experience you bring. You’ll be based in Central London very close to all the main public transport hubs.
