Children's Editor

Our client, a trade publisher of non-fiction books based in London, is looking for an editor to work on a range of Children’s illustrated puzzle, practical art, novelty and non-fiction titles. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter with solid editorial experience to play a creative role in the development of projects, working closely with authors, illustrators and a small in-house editorial and design team.

Key duties:

  • Copy-edit and proof read content for a list of children’s non-fiction products

  • Contribute to the development of new product ideas from conception to completion

  • Ensure books are produced on time and to budget

  • Liaise closely with designers and the editorial team to ensure high quality

  • Commission artists and work closely with external authors as needed

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid editorial experience within children’s trade book publishing is essential

  • Excellent hands-on editorial skills, good attention to detail and strong copy editing skills

  • Good visual editing skills and ability to work smoothly with designers and illustrators

  • A proactive approach and the ability to work both independently and as a team member

  • Excellent organizational abilities, communication and interpersonal skills
