Director of Content and Publishing

Full Time 35 hours per week | Permanent | Hybrid / London NW1 2DB

Salary range £56500 - £59500

The Role

The Director of Content and Publishing is a key member of the senior team, reporting directly to the Chief Development Officer.  Responsible for leading, developing and delivering CILIP’s content provision as Facet Publishing.  The Director manages a small Facet team and oversees the staff responsible for delivering CILIPs events and awards and the Yoto Carnegie Medals.

The role holder is accountable for:

  • Overall strategic responsibility for Facet and for CILIP’s Events and Awards with a focus on providing value and growth and in line with the Content Strategy. 
  • Leading the development of a long-term strategy for Facet, to include commissioning the Facet programme including business development, performance targets and growth. 
  • Working with the Chief Development Officer and Senior Management Team on the development of a long-term strategy for CILIP’s Events and Awards offer. 
  • Ensuring accurate monitoring and reporting, including sales data, segmented markets, key markets, accounts and territories. 
  • Recruit, support and develop the Content Team and establish a culture which embraces new ways of working effectively. 

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience of leading a publishing function of publisher
  • Experience of commissioning and working with authors
  • A strong track record in commercial publishing and content creation

It is not essential for the candidate to possess prior knowledge of the sector or event management, but they will have the right level of knowledge and enthusiasm to learn rapidly and use their transferable skills to be successful in this role.
