Associate Editor (Commissioning)

This editorial position requires a candidate who is keen to move into a Commissioning role. Responsible for finding and contracting new books and new editions and working with authors to deliver a frontlist of titles in a designated subject or sub-discipline. The role involves building relationships and working closely with authors, making decisions that impact positively on product development and profitability. Commissions new titles and new editions from an agreed hitlist to create a pipeline of future publishing. Builds relationships and works closely with authors to ensure under contract projects remain on schedule and are delivered to plan. Proposes and monitors costs and agrees pricing on each title. Develops market knowledge through campus-calling and desk-based research. Represents the company at conferences and author meetings.
