Commissioning Assistant - Books

We have a not-to-missed opportunity to work for a prestigious academic publisher within their Books team as a Commissioning Assistant. This highly sought after role will work across several subject portfolios and will involve providing dedicated admin support to the publishing team, including market research and deputising for Commissioning Editors in their absence. The role also offers the opportunity to manage a small portfolio and build your publishing experience, once you have some experience within the role.

This role can be worked fully remotely within the UK  and our client offers flexible working, and great company benefits.

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Commissioning Editor/Senior Commissioning Editor and other members of the editorial team with general admin work and providing support on research projects
  • Helping to prepare publishing reports and development plans for book titles
  • Supporting marketing and social media activities; arranging conference materials and award programmes
  • Once a little more experienced, you may have the opportunity to take on some of your own commissioning projects

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a little publishing experience (ideally), or who has gained some publishing experience through their studies. You will need to be highly organised, with the ability to multi-task, and have an interest in academic publishing and learning about different subjects within the academic publishing portfolio. Strong communication skills are essential for this role as you will be engaging with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders daily.

Our client offers numerous opportunities to progress your career as well as the opportunity to learn new skills.  If this sounds like your ideal next role, then please get in touch.  For further details please send your CV and a short cover note.
