Commissioning Editor

Do you have experience in serious non- fiction, have you acquired popular science titles, personal development, neuroscience or smart thinking? An exciting role has come up with a leading trade publisher in London for a Commissioning Editor. You will be commissioning books in the areas of expert-led non-fiction such as Business, Psychology and lifestyle. You will bring with you exciting ideas for new titles as well as author/agent contacts.

The ideal candidate will be a subject matter specialist and have commissioning experience in acquiring expert led non-fiction and the energy and vision to develop trade-based lists, and ensure that profitable titles are produced to schedule and budget. You should understand the editorial process from concept to final publication and have a strong commercial awareness.

The successful candidate will have proven ability to develop successful and profitable projects and strong communication and negotiation skills. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and thrive working independently. You will be a creative and commercially aware individual with experience in commissioning and managing a list. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a critical role in growing this list further.
