Commissioning Editor

Are you a development editor/ editorial assistant with some development experience looking for a step up? A prestigious Professional Membership organisation based in central London is looking to appoint a Commissioning Editor. You will be responsible for the development of new and existing books and electronic products.

 What you'll be doing :

  • Commission and develop new print and digital products within budget and to agreed specification

  • Provide support to authors and editors and ensure projects are delivered on time and to high quality standard

  • Conduct market research and market testing to support product development, monitoring competition

  • Present business proposals and ensure quality control of published content 

  • Monitor budget, producing financial reports and compiling data for the financial team

What you'll have :

  • Development experience within professional/academic publishing is required

  • Good understanding of book publishing processes and of digital publishing

  • Commercial awareness and knowledge of market research techniques

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain solid relationships

  • Strong organisation and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise
