Do you love Non-fiction, working across politics, history, sports and humour? An exciting 9 months contract role of a Commissioning Editor has come up with an independent trade publisher in London. You will be supporting the Director with current front list titles, author management, development and any other editorial duties. This is a fantastic role for someone who is looking for that next step into commissioning or who has just started their commissioning journey. You will bring creativity and exciting ideas for new titles as well as author and agent management.
The ideal candidate will be a subject matter specialist and have some commissioning experience in illustrated and mono non-fiction. You will have the energy and vision to support the director to develop trade-based lists and ensure that profitable titles are produced to schedule and budget. You should understand the editorial process from concept to final publication and have a strong commercial awareness.
The successful candidate will have proven ability to develop successful and profitable projects and will have strong communication and negotiation skills. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and thrive working in a small independent publisher with big ideas. You will be a creative individual with some experience in commissioning and managing a list. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a critical role in growing this list further.
