Commissioning Editor

A market-leading educational publisher, based in Ireland, is seeking a proactive and commercially-minded Commissioning Editor to join their supportive and friendly publishing team. This role offers hybrid working based out of the company's Dublin office, and offers a competitive salary alongside an excellent opportunity to take on a varied and valuable role as Commissioning Editor within a highly successful and growing publishing organisation.

Reporting to the Publisher, the Commissioning Editor will play a pivotal role in the team, and undertake research and source the best authors to create market-led proposals to meet Secondary school classroom needs across various subject areas.

Responsibilities will include (amongst others):

• Research markets and develop new series' and titles
• Manage author relationships; source and commission new authors
• Review and manage new content submissions
• Recruit and manage content reviewers
• Prepare briefing documents and provide suitable ongoing guidance to colleagues
• Monitor progress of projects from submission through to launch
• Work with Sales & Marketing departments to ensure product USPs are relayed to customers
• Report regularly to management and escalate queries and issues as need arises
• Act as the owner for your projects to ensure they meet specifications and deadlines
• Attend relevant conferences and develop a network of key educational contacts

Key skills include:

• Editorial skills in Educational Publishing
• Relationship-building skills
• Commercial acumen
• Time and project management skills
• Teaching experience would be desirable
