Commissioning Editor

An exciting role has come up with an independent trade publisher in London for a Commissioning Editor. You will be commissioning books in the areas of history, popular science, memoir, film, pop culture, and other categories and will bring with you exciting ideas for new titles as well as author/agent contacts. The ideal candidate will have significant commissioning experience in non-fiction already and the energy and vision to develop trade-based lists, and ensure that profitable titles are produced to schedule and budget. You should understand the editorial process from concept to final publication and have a strong commercial awareness.

The successful candidate will have proven ability to develop successful and profitable projects and strong communication and negotiation skills. This is a full-time position but they will consider part-time workers in the interim. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and thrive working independently. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a critical role in growing this list further working with both debut authors and established authors.
