Commissioning Editor - 6 month contract - Ilustrated

I have an incredible opportunity for a Commissioning Editor (6 month maternity contract with possible extension to 9 months) to work on an Interior Design, Landscape architecture and project management list at a very well-regarded and sought-after organisation. It's a highly collaborative department and as a Commissioning Editor, you will be responsible for the generation of commercially viable new content as well as maintenance of the profitable backlist content. The key to success will be sustaining excellent author relations and so a service-orientated editor will be needed for this role.

The current commissioning editor has lined up an incredible 6 months for you so from day one you will have a clear plan to follow, authors to develop and relationships to grow.

You will be responsible for editorial project from concept to publication, keeping in mind the end reader and, with that, keeping abreast of critical issues in the market. You will also be creating proposals for new content for the committee, working closely with authors, working closely with external Development Editors and reviewers and negotiating terms of publishing deals.

You will have demonstrable experience, of commissioning new products. You will possess good written and verbal communication skills, have excellent organisational skills, and have the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
