Commissioning Editor
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced editor to join a leading Educational Publisher in Central London and work to develop specific areas of their assessment publishing. With a focus on product development and commissioning, this role is ideal for someone with experience in primary or secondary educational or assessment publishing.
Key duties:
- Responsible for commissioning and development of successful new products, both print and digital
- Manage projects from publishing plan to commercially successful product, ensuring they are published on time and to budget
- Research and develop the needs and opportunities for digital offers, working closely with internal teams to scope and brief
- Be the in-house expert for the market segment and maintain detailed market and customer knowledge
- Ensure close relationship with authors, contributors and external parties throughout the publishing process
- Monitor backlist and online products to ensure they are updated as appropriate and stock levels maintained
Experience / skills required:
- Solid editorial experience in educational or assessment publishing
- Commercially aware with experience or an interest in commissioning
- Extremely market focussed with excellent project management skills
- Analytical and comfortable working with data and reports
- Knowledge of managing budgets and schedules
- Experience of developing resources for UK schools would be highly advantageous
- Interest in and understanding of assessments and experience working with a high level of data would be highly desirable
