Commissioning Editor

Are you looking for an amazing commissioning role with a commercial and internationally-focussed illustrated book publisher? Our client is looking to appoint an experienced commissioner to join their team, based in London and to build on their highly successful illustrated gift focused list.

Reporting to the Publisher, you will:

* Commission high quality new commercial trade titles
* Originate new book ideas and source authors
* Identify new publishing areas and develop titles to be commissioned
* Develop strong links with authors, journalists and other professionals
* Meet regularly with internal colleagues to plan new strategy

You will have proven experience in commissioning illustrated books and demonstrable commissioning skills. Good commercial instincts and a flair for spotting trends will be important in this role as will your ability to see gaps in the market. Strong budgeting and negotiating skills will be important and the ability to work well within a close knit team. Previous experience of commissioning in the area of adult illustrated non-fiction will be an advantage.
