Commissioning Editor

We have an exciting overseas opportunity for a Commissioning Editor to join an International Educational publisher, based in Singapore! The successful candidate will be a creative and critical thinker, who will be responsible for the formation of subject list plans and publishing programmes for Singapore and International markets.

Key duties:

  • Commission authors and build relationships to drive publication proposals from conceptualisation to presentation of business cases for approval
  • Lead contract negotiations and handle data analysis
  • Maintain awareness of developments and competitors in the Education/publishing industry
  • Undertake market research across print and digital products
  • Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to achieve sales targets
  • Achieve signing targets as set out in the publishing and strategy plans
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure publications achieve sales targets

Experience / skills required:

  • Science degree with experience teaching and/or editing
  • Strong command of the English Language and the drive to network within the education community
  • The ability to act quickly on market developments, trends and opportunities
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative and be resourceful
  • Knowledge of the Singapore education system
