Commissioning Editor
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commissioning Editor to join a leading international educational publisher based in Singapore. Our client has 3 openings for the role of Commissioning Editor (1 in ELT, 1 in Maths, and 1 in Secondary Science). The company offer an attractive salary, benefits and relocation package.
The main remit of the Commissioning Editor will be to look after the subject list plans and publishing programmes for Singapore and International education markets. Responsibilities include:
·Maintain acute awareness of developments in the Education/Publishing industry as well as competitor activities;
·Plan and conduct market research for both print and digital products, and handle data analysis to develop publication proposals;
·Drive publication proposals in terms of conceptualisation, development and presentation of business cases for approval;
·Lead contract negotiations and commission authors;
·Achieve signing targets to support publishing plans and strategic direction;
·Build excellent working relationships with authors;
·Evaluate author's manuscripts;
·Engage internal stakeholders to ensure high quality and timely publications;
·Work with Sales and Marketing on marketing messages to achieve sales targets.
As Commissioning Editor you will be an experienced editor and be familiar with the commissioning process and have the ability to understand and act quickly upon market developments, new trends and potential business opportunities. With a market focused and commercially driven work ethic, the Commissioning Editor will demonstrate creativity, strong communication, organisation and analytical skills and have an excellent command of English. Furthermore the ideal Commissioning Editor will be able to build strong personal networks within the international education community. Editorial experience, teaching experience or sales and marketing experience especially in the educational publishing industry will be advantageous.
