Our client is seeking a creative and commercially aware Commissioning Editor for their practical photography and new tech list! With a passion for the subject area, Practical Photography, the Commissioning Editor will commission and develop high-quality illustrated titles for a commercially focused list across the areas of practical photography, new tech and some photographic surveys, aimed at an international market. Keeping close to market trends, you will nurture and develop existing authors and seek out the top talent in the field to create the best books on any given subject, while also revisiting and reinvigorating backlist titles. Working collaboratively with PR and sales, you will champion your books from acquisition through to successful publication.
The successful Commissioning Editor will have a strong knowledge of the subject area and have the chance to bring their own vision and ideas to the role, commissioning a range of titles that will sell around the world. The ideal candidate will have confidence, international awareness, commercial nous and may also have some experience of commissioning illustrated books, or maybe a background in photography magazines, or as an avid photographer. An ability to juggle deadlines and priorities to ensure the smooth running of the list will also be key.
