Commissioning Editor: Conference Series

An exciting opportunity has come up for a Commissioning Editor to join a leading scientific publisher to drive the profitable growth of their conference proceedings journals by managing new volumes, ensuring customers are retained and developing strategies that will support the development of the programme.

Key Responsibilities include:

- Identifying new needs and trends and putting together development strategies.

- Growing a network of key decision makers in this space.

- Negotiating contract terms.

- Managing relationships and ensuring repeat business.

- Working with and advising coordinators to ensure publications are managed accordingly.

This is a customer focused role, so the ideal candidate must have outstanding communication skills, with the ability to network effectively with other departments, partners, and internal stakeholders. Experience in STM publishing and commissioning content, as well as a good understanding of publishing finance and the ability to prioritise business opportunities is a must. Strong working knowledge of MS Excel is essential, and the person best suited to this role must have a drive for results, a desire to learn and a willingness to travel regularly to conferences and other meetings.
