Commissioning Editor, ELT

We have an opportunity to join a leading ELT publisher as Commissioning Editor on a 9 month maternity leave contract. This role offers a competitive salary and flexibility with regard to hybrid / remote working, or can be based out of the company's London office - let us know what works for you!

As Commissioning Editor you will oversee and project manage the multi-component ELT projects (digital and print) including course books and teacher resources for the schools market (all ages) in Egypt, working closely with and supported by the local publishing team and collaborators in the UK. You will act as the main point of contact for the Ministry of Education and effectively managing the relationship. Key responsibilities include:

• Commission and publish high-quality print, audio and digital learning materials, working according to the MoE brief.
• Manage complex projects with fixed budgets and deadlines.
• Coordinate teams of authors, educational consultants, editors, designers and illustrators.
• Develop and maintain close working relationships with international colleagues, clients and officials.
• Create and maintain schedules.

The successful Commissioning Editor will have solid experience in ELT publishing, from having previously developed educational products and content. As well as the ability to build and manage successful relationships, the Commissioning Editor will have excellent attention to detail and project management skills. Experience of producing learning materials for the Middle Eastern market would be beneficial but by no means essential, this role could suit someone with ELT publishing experience gained in any market. The role is an initial 9 month contract but may lead to something longer term depending on business needs at the time.
