We have an exciting opportunity in China, with a global publisher of Science, Technology, and Medicine books and resources, who are looking for a passionate Commissioning Editor to drive forward new title projects.
In this role, you will be proactively commission new book titles, work closely with Chinese authors and academic editors, and nurture relationships with key publishing partners and societies. This role is based in Beijing, and offers remote working options within the Beijing territory.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Commissioning new titles for a portfolio of monographs and textbooks, working towards annual targets as instructed by the Publisher
- Working closely with an Editorial Assistant to coordinate the manuscript submission process, overseeing production and publishing deadlines
- Conducting market research (specifically on the Science and Engineering lists) through meetings, conferences and other key industry events
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a keen interest in Engineering or Sciences, and have some editorial experience, preferably within academic book publishing for international audiences. They will need to be fluent in English and Mandarin, and able to communicate with multiple stakeholders in a professional and diplomatic manner.
