Commissioning Editorial Assistant

A leading European open access publisher is looking for a Commissioning Editorial Assistant to join their friendly and busy production team in their London based offices. This is an excellent opportunity for an outgoing and collaborative editorial assistant with a scientific background who would like to collaborate with high-level researchers and organise editorial projects.
Key duties:

  • Research, engage, develop and deliver new editorial projects with researchers
  • Visit events and conferences to build market knowledge, identify and commission researchers
  • Work with internal journal teams and build close relationships with high-level researchers
  • Assist researchers in developing research topic proposals and reach targets for the assigned journals
  • Present new research topic proposals to the Chief Editor and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure journals are delivered on schedule

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid experience in an editorial role within STM or academic publishing
  • Some experience of commissioning or willingness and interest to learn 
  • Experience working on multiple projects at a time under set deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and target-oriented environment  
  • Prior experience in academic publishing or content acquisition would be advantageous
  • Academic background in the field of science is desirable
