Commissioning Manager

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Commissioning Manager to join this professional publishing organisation which focuses on lifelong learning. The successful candidate will identify, commission and help to onboard and guide subject matter experts to fulfil a range of course team roles in respect of students gaining qualifications, and learning opportunities, across the business areas as required. This hybrid working position will be mainly remote working but will need to attend the office (London or Canterbury) occasionally for meetings and training.

Responsibilities include:

•     Working with the business areas to review potential subject matter experts to determine expertise for different roles

•     Maintaining and developing role descriptors for course team, such as chief examiner, author, technical reviewer, moderator, item writer, etc

•     Ensuring that SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) have the necessary expertise and skillset to deliver against the requirements of the course design

•     Preparing a commissioning brief for each qualification informed by syllabus content, learning design and appropriate pedagogic methodologies

                  Working collaboratively with the Project Manager, Head of Educational Content and across the Learning Provision team

                  Reviewing SME submissions from a commissioning perspective as per agreed  processes

•     Attending relevant conferences, seminars and other events to identify new SMEs and broaden the diversity of SME’s

The ideal candidate will have experience of commissioning educational content for a variety of uses and channels and will have experience of collaborative working with strong influencing skills. You will have the ability to assess the skills and experience of SMEs to fulfil a range of roles within or on behalf of the organisation.
