The publishing arm of a leading and highly respected Institute based in London is looking to recruit a Commissioning/Content Editor to work on an exciting range of learning resources primarily in the Higher Education area of the business. This is an interesting and wide-ranging role that will involve working closely with qualification managers, subject matter experts and learning technologists to commission, edit, develop and/or repurpose content for online delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with colleagues on the learning decision-making process. Guiding them through the different options available
- Prepare a commissioning brief for each qualification informed by syllabus content, learning design and appropriate pedagogic methodologies
- Identify suitable authors and commission and manage associated contracts
- Work closely with the Learning Technologist and Subject Matter Expert to develop a clear plan that details the content needed to develop each qualification
- Copyedit content and make ready for production activity
- Assess draft content and consolidate feedback from other stakeholders
This is an interesting and wide-ranging role with a lot of scope for development and the successful person will have:
- an understanding of the requirements for effective online learning
- the ability to assess the suitability of content for its intended audience and reshape it where necessary
- sound copy editing and proofreading skills
- a willingness to work collaboratively and establish good working relationships
- strong project management skills
- knowledge of standard editorial processes
- Experience of negotiating agreements and influencing stakeholders
- Ability to evaluate and provide feedback
