Content Development Editor – Higher Education

One of the world’s largest higher education services companies is looking for a Content Development Editor to focus on new and existing print and digital learning content for online and blended course development projects. Managing materials for HE customers, courses or qualifications across a range of channels and platforms, the main responsibilities include:

  • Managing multiple editorial projects to ensure delivery on time, to budget and specification
  • Reporting on project progress to Content Development Manager and other key stakeholders
  • Commissioning writers/SME’s for updating or creating new project content
  • Managing and commissioning typesetting, copy-editing and proof-reading across multiple delivery platforms
  • Responsibility for maintaining editorial guidelines and standards across projects
  • Supporting the Instructional Designer with blueprint and storyboard templates
  • Training and mentoring of editorial staff, and managing and recruiting editorial freelancers
  • First point of contact for editorial, author management and project queries
  • Ensuring all rights and permissions are audited and up-to-date.

The successful candidate will have a solid experience of editorial/content development within a publishing environment, a strong knowledge of copyright law and excellent copy editing and proof-reading skills. Excellent communication, organisational and planning skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively, independently and solve problems pragmatically.
