Translation Rights Assistant

This an exciting opportunity to join C&W literary agency on a permanent full-time basis.  We are a close-knit team of 18 people, representing bestselling and prize-winning authors around the world, with a proud track record of supporting writers from the very beginning of their career.

This role will involve providing administrative support to the Head of International Rights, working closely alongside the Associate Agent and Rights Executive.

We are looking for an energetic, creative and highly motivated assistant. The ideal candidate will love reading a wide variety of literature and have a keen interest in book publishing and the international publishing market. While previous publishing or foreign rights experience would be beneficial, it is not a requirement for the role. You will have excellent communications skills, be highly organised, have a sharp eye for detail, and enjoy working as part of a collegiate and ambitious team. We need someone who feels confident handling a high volume of administrative work, including contractual details. You should be engaged with digital and social media, and as this role involves writing copy for our website it would be useful if you have experience of writing copy. As part of a lively department, you will be expected to use your skills to help facilitate colleagues’ projects; to roll up your sleeves and pitch in. Knowledge of a foreign language is helpful but not necessary.

This role gives an ideal opportunity for an assistant to use their excellent administrative skills to discover more about international publishing, build excellent knowledge and contacts within the industry and work with an incredible stable of authors across the C&W list and those of the other agencies with whom we work.

Please note this role is currently based on a hybrid working pattern which involves a mix of working from home and from our central London offices. This is envisaged to continue in the medium term, but is subject to ongoing review.

Why choose us?

You will be joining one of the UK’s leading literary agencies and have the opportunity to work with well-known and exceptional upcoming authors. We are a small, committed, and collaborative team of literary agents, translation rights agents, and finance professionals within Europe’s largest and most successful talent agency, The Curtis Brown Group.

We offer an extensive list of benefits designed to meet your needs for today and in the future, including: free yoga and personal training classes, many health and wellbeing tools and resources, eyecare vouchers, a bike to work scheme, season ticket loans, private healthcare (after 2 years’ service), a retail discounts portal, various employee groups to get involved in, and much more!

We aim to build a creative environment that celebrates the differences of our clients and colleagues, offering equal opportunities regardless of gender, race, socio-economic background, age, disability, sexual orientation and national origin.   In our role as conduits and champions of cultural expression we are conscious of our responsibility to reflect the world around us. This means making a considered effort to create an inclusive culture in the workplace and promote opportunities for the broadest possible range of talent.  We welcome all applications from people with interesting ideas, skills and experience.
