Children’s Rights Agent (Fixed Term Contract)

David Higham Associates is looking for a Translation Rights Agent to join its dynamic, busy team on a fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave.

Representing DHA’s prestigious children’s list in translation, the successful applicant will have a passion for children’s books and experience of selling rights across major international markets. Determined, proactive and ambitious, you will have outstanding communication, sales and negotiation skills. You know how to build and maintain excellent relationships with clients, publishers, scouts and co-agents and have the commercial awareness to identify sales opportunities and close deals.

You will also be highly self-motivated, organised and efficient, along with being a strong team-player. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

• Liaising with primary agents about material, upcoming titles and submission strategies
• Managing submissions across territories, both direct and co-agented
• Negotiating deal terms and strong knowledge of translation contracts
• Communicating with clients about offers, jackets, publication strategy, international interviews and festivals etc.
• Preparing for and attendance at relevant book fairs and undertaking international sales trips (if the prevailing Covid-19 situation allows)

The role will be based out of our Central London office, with combination of office/home working on a schedule to be agreed. We are offering a salary of £30,000 to £35,000pa, depending on experience.
