Deputy Head of Production

We are looking for a Deputy Head of Production to join a leading educational publisher, based in central London, to manage the timely production and delivery of all product from the international list, as well as others. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced production professional with management experience.

 

Key duties:

  • Manage the workload of the production department, ensuring first class service delivery
  • Detailed involvement in the tender and manufacture process for large government ministry orders
  • Ensure steady supply of backlist product
  • Approve new suppliers and maintain close relationships with both internal and external suppliers
  • Work closely with publishing department and monitor progress of new books
  • Monitor performance of department in regards to schedules and quality
  • Forecast and monitor department overhead spend in conjunction with VP Supply Chain

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid production experience within publishing 
  • Sound technical knowledge of production processes
  • Experience working with international suppliers is essential, experience working with Asia is highly desirable
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team
  • Excellent negotiator with ability to build strong relationships
