Deputy Head of Publicity

A pivotal, innovative Deputy Head of Publicity contract role for 12 months has opened up with a distinguished, global publisher where creative strategy and distinctive campaigns will be the focus. You will be a PR professional who will build and implement compelling PR campaigns for fiction and non-fiction titles and assist the Head of Publicity and PR Director. The role is full-time and offers hybrid working options (2 days a week in the London office).

This role involves:

  • managing major publicity campaigns;
  • overseeing the publicity and marketing team and line-managing the assistant
  • Being responsible for communication with contacts in media (press, social media) and with event organisers
  • Managing the publicity budget
  • Reviewing submissions and pitch materials
  • Working closely with the marketing team to refine and integrate campaigns

You will be experienced in publicity within trade publishing, knowing how to successfully secure great coverage for books and to build excellent campaigns to drive sales. Excellent organisational and communication skills will be needed to maintain and establish relationships with media contacts and with colleagues. You will also comfortable with line management. You will know the media landscape well and be attuned to the fiction and non-fiction fanbases.
