Designer - Children's

WARNING... Hot job alert!

A leading media organisation based Central London is looking for a Designer to join their publishing team. The company represents some of the world’s leading entertainment properties ranging from pre-school to youth and adult brands. The role reports to the Product Development Manager. The main responsibility of the role is to review and comment on the visual aspects of all Media Products submissions for all company properties within the Europe, Middle East and Africa market– including all books, magazines, part-works, video/DVD sleeves and interactive projects. The job-holder will also be expected to edit and comment on all manuscripts and write original copy for submissions.

The successful candidate will have experience in the publishing industry, preferably in children’s publishing and ideally will have an understanding of branding and the approvals process. Character licensing experience would also be an advantage. They will possess the following skills/ experience: strong graphic and print design skills and attention to detail; knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign; strong editorial skills; ability to make creative and brand judgements and evaluate design quality of all material; understanding of the different cultural elements that may affect the use of the company’s trademarks within EMEA; knowledge of kids’ culture and an understanding of their attitudes and issues; effective and confident communication skills; and the ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks. An additional European language would be an advantage but is not a requirement.

You will also be creating original designs and be critical in communicating clear brand guidelines. You will need to outsource work to freelancers as well so having a good list of contacts within children's publishing would be an advantage.

This is a very busy role and so you really need to be highly organised and able to manage your own workload. You will need to demonstrate solid prioritisation skills and understand that you need to hit multiple deadlines constantly. If you are looking for a busy, full on role within a world leading organisation with incredibly successful global brands, apply today!
