Book Designer - Illustrated Books

We are looking for a creative and experience Designer to join a trade publisher in Northampton, working on illustrated colour books. This is an exciting opportunity to use your creativity to project manage a wide range of illustrated book projects and formats.

Key Duties:

• Developing a variety of illustrated titles from concept to finished design
• Designing covers, spreads and layout for a wide range of illustrated titles
• Work with external partners and licensors
• Signing off on a wide range of books across different formats
• Mentor and instruct junior members

Experience/skills required:

• Solid design experience in illustrated books is essential
• Excellent understanding of the design process
• Experience of commissioning/managing illustrators and freelancers highly desirable
• Strong understanding of formats, age-ranges and subject matters
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a creative approach to work
• Excellent knowledge of Adobe CS Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
