Desk Editor

An international and award-winning publisher of scientific books and journals is looking for a Desk Editor to work on publications for the dentistry market. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious candidate with editorial experience to join a friendly team. This is a full-time, in-house position.

Key duties:

• Format, edit and proofread manuscripts for upcoming books and journals according to company standards
• Oversee projects from manuscript to publication
• Upload, process and track articles through the online systems while maintaining good author relationships
• Attend Editorial Board meetings in the UK and internationally when required
• Liaise with colleagues in different departments and authors externally

Experience / skills required:

• A Science degree would be an advantage with an understanding of book/journal publishing
• Solid editorial experience in an STM or academic publishing environment
• Strong organisational skills with experience working to deadlines and managing multiple projects at once
• Good verbal and written communication skills and
• Ability to work as a team and maintain good relationships with editors, authors and other departments
• Excellent computer literacy (Microsoft package including Adobe Pro) with the ability to use publishing systems
