We have a fantastic opportunity with a London based publisher of beautiful books. Our client, an award-winning publisher of fine bound books, is looking for a talented and creative Desk Editor to oversee their Fiction list.
Reporting into the Publishing Director, this role will be responsible for managing a wide range of Fiction titles, ranging from science fiction to classical poetry, taking titles from manuscript to publication.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone is a similar role looking to work on more Fiction titles, or for an Assistant Editor to step up and take on more project management responsibilities. The role requires a strong understanding of book publishing and editorial processes, as well as a knowledge of the market.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Overseeing the publication of a wide range of Fiction titles from handover of manuscript through to publication, ensuring quality standards and deadlines are met
- Briefing Art Directors, and helping with the overall visual design of the books
- Liaising with internal Design, Sales and Marketing teams, as well as external collaborators, to ensure publication is running smoothly
- Overseeing the editorial workflow of multiple titles in your list
The ideal candidate will have a good eye for design, and strong editorial and project management skills. This role will suit someone with a visual literacy, the ability to prioritise and work on multiple titles, and a passion for beautiful books.
