Development Editor

Due to continued success, a leading educational publishing company based in Dublin is looking to recruit a motivated Development Editor to join their team. This is an ideal role for someone looking to take the next step in their editorial career and who has a strong interest in educational publishing.  The Development Editor will support the Commissioning Editors in developing high quality content, both print and digital, by researching, planning and spec’ing out project elements.

The Development Editor will analyse relevant market data and will work with various departments.   You will create briefing documents and templates and you will be involved in design elements related to your projects.  Other elements of this role will include briefing and working with authors at the initial stages of the project and identifying appropriate ancillary materials.  You will also have responsibility for the management of the review process and attend meetings within the organisation and with teachers and authors.

The successful person will have proven experience within educational publishing and have a genuine interest in educational publishing and the desire to be involved in the future of this sector, together with exceptional communication skills, and the ability to deal with data from a wide range of sources.  You will have sound editorial skills with a strong eye for detail, and an analytical mind-set, with the ability to grasp concepts quickly when working with content across a variety of subjects. A proven ability to multitask and prioritise a varied workload effectively whilst working towards deadlines is essential as are excellent IT skills. Knowledge of the Irish educational system would be highly desirable.
