Digital Resources Manager (contract)

This is a unique opportunity for a Digital Resources Manager to join a renowned academic society on a 6-month maternity cover contract. If you have experience planning and delivering digital resources and a good knowledge of metadata standards for archives, then this role might be perfect for you! You will be responsible for the creation and delivery of digital content for the society resources and external websites. We are looking for someone to start ASAP, remotely in the first instance.

 

Key duties:

  • Plan and implement digitisation programme for archival preservation and academic research
  • Manage and expand existing portfolio of digital resources aimed at academic and public audiences
  • Manage projects workflows and budgets, liaising with projects stakeholders to ensure timely delivery
  • Commission image capture of archival material to ensure image quality and care of historical materials
  • Maintain overview of metadata and archive cataloging standards
  • Preserve digitally born records and manage software to present/interpret archival collections

 

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience working with archival of hierarchical databases is required
  • Proven track record of managing digitally born resources is essential
  • Solid knowledge of metadata, authority file and image file standards
  • Understanding of the challenges of experience paper records and of how academic and public audiences use web-based resources
  • Excellent project management and negotiation skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to work unsupervised and communicate clearly and effectively with wide range of project stakeholders
