Acquisitions Editor x 2 – DK Licensing

Do you enjoy spotting new trends and ideas ahead of the pack? Are you a trusted partner for your network of authors and illustrators? Are you experienced in commissioning and managing illustrated books?  If so, read on…

DK is a world leader in illustrated non-fiction publishing and we’re expanding. As part of growth plans in our Licensing division we are creating two editorial teams to exploit new publishing opportunities in adult and children’s popular culture. We need two entrepreneurial Acquisitions Editors to help us build lists with exciting partners.

The focus for the Acquisitions Editor, Culture will be to develop a new arts and design list, working with The Metropolitan Museum of Art on our children's list, as well as other partners. The role of Acquisitions Editor, Custom & Gift will be centred on growing existing partnerships with pop culture brands and building a new gift book/product list for adults, as well as driving our custom book programme, using assets from our existing lists in innovative ways to reach new customers.

These are two incredibly exciting opportunities waiting for two talented individuals who have the drive and commitment to really make an impact to the success of the division.  For both roles, you will need to:

  • Find new licensors, brands and cultural institutions for DK to partner with to publish original illustrated non-fiction titles.
  • Originate ideas, commission authors and illustrators of the highest quality to deliver international sales success.
  • Acquire non-fiction titles that will contribute to DK’s mission to create immersive books for the curious.

Your experience may be in adult or children’s books but you should be skilled in commissioning and managing illustrated books.  If you are a self-starter, have a good visual sense and a strong eye for detail, perform well under pressure, and thrive on spotting new trends and ideas, we’d love to hear from you.

To apply, please submit your most recent CV and cover letter clearly stating which of the two roles you would like to be considered for, if you have a preference, and your salary expectations.

Closing date for applications is 27th November 2020.
