Production Controller (maternity cover)

We have two maternity cover opportunities for Production Controllers within DK’s Production team. This department produces a diverse range of well-recognised Adult and Children’s titles, which co-print in numerous languages. These positions will give the successful candidates a unique opportunity to develop and broaden their production skills, commercial awareness and relationship management skills.

You will be involved in the creation and delivery of titles, for both trade and special sales, working across various global markets for your list. You will be responsible for all aspects of your list at all stages including product development, costing, scheduling, delivery, and quality control.

A first-rate communicator adept at building and maintaining relationships with sales, suppliers and creative colleagues alike you will understand the role that Production plays in a commercial environment.   

You will be profit oriented, enjoying the challenges of creatively negotiating to tight margins, in line with DK’s department strategy. You will have a sharp eye for detail and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team on high volume workloads.

Essential skills: 

  • Knowledge and experience of handling print scheduling, spend and placement.
  • Experience of 4 colour print processes and co-edition printing.
  • An understanding of product safety concerns and processes. For the Children’s role, safety testing and novelty product experience is ideal but training will be given.
  • An enthusiastic and proactive approach to work.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrable communication skills
  • Commercially aware
  • Detail oriented
  • A thorough approach to administration.
  • Comfortable with managing high workloads in a demanding environment.
