Project Designer - DK Travel

As the world’s leading illustrated non-fiction Publisher we are looking for a super creative, talented and imaginative Project Designer to join us as we evolve our Travel books with groundbreaking design.

The Travel team create the DK Eyewitness and Top 10 travel guides, along with the Like a Local series. We also produce many beautiful gift and inspiration books featuring inspirational photography and illustration from the best in the industry.

You will be passionate about design, know how to make a spread visually appealing and not be afraid to share your opinion on what you think works. You will actively research and keep abreast of new trends in illustration and photography along with design aesthetics

Reporting into the Managing Art Editor under the supervision of the Senior Designers, this is a real opportunity for you to have your say and influence the styling of our content. You will be someone who can get stuck in from the get-go, flex your approach and can handle working to multiple deadlines.

Some of your day-to-day will involve:

  • Creating moodboards and styling for books
  • Running and overseeing titles
  • Designing jackets and internal content
  • Briefing freelancers and commissioning illustrations

To succeed, you will love the buzz of working as a key part of a busy team, be eager to give things a go and unafraid of trying emerging styles and new techniques that you're always on the lookout for.

This is a busy role and you will need to be well organised to ensure you can deliver. We are a global company and the role involves working with our colleagues in London and Delhi so clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written, are another must.

In return, you will have the opportunity to work within a truly collaborative business where you have the freedom to make a real impact if you’re willing to put in the hard work.

If you’re still reading this and have a portfolio that shows a whole breadth and depth of work, we’d love to see it.  Please upload a pdf of your portfolio and most recent CV to be considered.

Salary: Up to £35,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits

Closing date for applications: Friday 2nd June 2023

We have a range of benefits to reflect our commitment to our people, some of which are:

  • 25 days paid holiday entitlement in year one, plus bank holidays
  • Medical cover
  • Life Assurance
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Volunteering policy and charity matching
