Editor In Chief

Inspired Search, our Executive Search Division are delighted to be exclusively partnering with our client, a well-established and highly reputable content provider, who are now looking for an Editor-In-Chief to build the brand and grow audiences for both their print and digital content. The organisation, a charity, currently has a large body of journalistically led content within the science and innovation space, covering advancements in energy, life sciences, food and agriculture and consumer products. This is a newly created role designed to make a step change in the accessibility and reach of the existing content streams, building a more vibrant brand through the crafting of compelling stories and through the use of other platforms such as social and video.

You will be leading a small and experienced team into this next chapter for the brand, setting an overarching editorial strategy for content that will address, challenge and inspire how the adoption and commercialisation of science can impact the economic and societal landscape of today. In this role, your key areas of focus will be:

  • Editorial strategy: development of a strategy across a range of channels including: print magazines, digital content, social media, podcasts, video etc.
  • Creation of compelling stories: ensuring that content is aligned with the strategy in a commercially compelling, impactful and digital-first way.
  • Audience development: increasing the reach, generating a greater demand and improving engagement through both online and offline activity.
  • Editorial and team leadership: developing the existing team and their skills, particularly in relation to content development and audience engagement, whilst inspiring them with a refreshed editorial strategy
  • Brand development: through the above activities and tasks, you will enhance the brands, as well as with wider business, as a thought leader in how science & innovation can address the societal challenges of today.

We are looking for someone with a successful track record in the above skills as well as an interest in how science & innovation can create both economic and societal value. You will be experienced in growing audiences and be confident in liaising with high-profile individuals and organisations such as government, C suite in industry, policy makers and academics.
