Editor, Children’s Editorial Department, Arcturus Publishing Limited – full-time
Based in Bermondsey, London (just south of London Bridge station), Arcturus Publishing is a well-established, independent publishing company with a global reach. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Editor to work in our Children’s Editorial Department.
The Editor will be responsible for managing a number of titles as part of a busy and growing list that encompasses a wide variety of subject areas including puzzle and activity books, novelty titles, reference books, and original children’s fiction. The Editor will also be responsible for supporting the Senior Editors and Editorial Manager.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Managing a wide range of titles from the commissioning stage through to sending files to Production
- Commissioning titles as requested by the Editorial Manager
- Briefing and reviewing artworks
- Liaising closely with designers
- Copy-editing, proofreading, and checking puzzles
- Picture research
- Some management of databases
- Writing sales material and cover copy
- Research for new titles
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level; have a minimum of one year’s experience of related editorial work; possess excellent skills in written English and have solid copy-editing and proofreading skills; be keen to take on new challenges; and have strong organisational skills. A good knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office is also required. Some familiarity with Biblio would be desirable.
