A lively and independent international co edition publisher in central London is looking for an Editor/Commissioning Editor for their growing team. You will join a small, innovative, hard-working and dedicated team to work on a wide range of illustrated non-fiction titles across subjects such as literature, visual culture, science, cookery and lifestyle.
You will be a key part of the pitching department and focus on commissioning and developing new projects including managing freelance teams and creatives. You will also have plenty of liaison with UK and USA publishers both at point of sale and as part of the editorial process once the book goes into production. Other key responsibilities will include budgeting, scheduling and negotiating fees. The ideal candidate will have good contacts and commercial knowledge within illustrated non-fiction books with excellent editorial and project management skills.
You must have strong experience in an illustrated book publishing environment and excellent indesign skills and a strong visual eye for design. You should have superb communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively on all levels and enjoy using your initiative. The successful candidate will have great attention to detail and be brimming with ideas as you will be working in a highly creative environment.
