Editor - Licensing - Children's Publishing

We have a fabulous new role, working for a leading London based, global publisher of award-winning children’s books, to work as part of the licensing editorial team.  This is a great opportunity for someone who has experience of working in children’s editorial, looking for a new challenge, and interested in furthering their career within licensing, or maybe you currently work in children’s editorial and are looking for a role where you would like to learn everything about the licensing area of children’s publishing. This role will work as part of a close-knit team, overseeing the creative process from start to finish, liaising with licensors, authors and expert consultants, while supporting senior editors.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role will involve:

  • Developing, originating and commissioning new print products for the global markets
  • Drive all stages of the editorial process, and undertake hands-on editorial, including copyediting
  • Commission and brief authors, freelance editors, packagers, consultants
  • Research emerging trends and develop new ideas for presentation
  • Writing and editing clear, concise spread briefs

The successful person will have experience of running their own book projects and will have proven experience within children’s editorial, as a Project, or Assistant Editor, or from a highly illustrated non-fiction trade background and now looking for the next step.  You will be an ambitious individual with a can-do approach who enjoys working as part of a fast-paced environment. Great time management skills are essential to this role as is the ability to multi-task, think on your feet and possess a great eye for detail.
