Editor (Nautical)

A leading trade publisher based in beautiful offices in Central London is looking for an Editor to join their growing and friendly team. This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Editor/Editor looking to work on a mix of four colour and one colour titles on their nautical list. This opportunity is offered on a FTC contract basis expected to end in October 2018 and we ideally looking for someone able to start quickly.  

Key duties:

  • Copy-edit, proofread and check all page proofs for layout and content
  • Work closely with authors, agents, designers and proof-readers, collate comments and ensure final files are ready to schedule and budget
  • Brief on-house and external designers and illustrators and cover designers and artwork projects
  • Organise and attend photoshoots as required
  • Ensure the publication process stays within budget and on schedule

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid editorial experience working with illustrated book publishing
  • Excellent editorial and writing skills, meticulous attention to detail
  • Visual flair and an eye for attractive and user friendly design and layout
  • Strong project management skills, ability to juggle multiple projects at a time
  • Proactive attitude and ability to use one’s own initiative
  • Basic knowledge for InDesign, Quark, Photoshop and Illustrator
