Editor, Pushkin Press

Acclaimed independent publisher Pushkin Press is looking for an experienced Editor to acquire and edit crime fiction for the expanding Pushkin Vertigo list. This role will also offer opportunities to acquire titles across the Pushkin Press imprints. Joining our small and busy team and reporting into Publisher and Managing Director Adam Freudenheim, responsibilities will include:

  • Acquiring crime fiction, both translated and English language original, from classics to debuts
  • Drawing on your existing network of agents and foreign language publishers, and building new contacts
  • Guiding titles through the publishing process from acquisition, and collaborating with the editorial, design, sales, marketing, and publicity teams to ensure successful publication
  • Working with the Publisher and Deputy Publisher to devise a strategy for the list and develop plans for growth

With strong editorial experience, and a demonstrated passion for crime fiction, you’ll have a track record of acquiring and editing titles for publication. Market focused, commercially minded and obsessed with quality, you’ll have an eye for the latest trends and be excited by the challenges of publishing crime fiction.

Pushkin Press was founded in 1997 and now encompasses Pushkin Children’s Books, Pushkin Vertigo (our crime imprint) and ONE (our English-language imprint).

Flexible or part-time arrangements will also be considered. Please apply to books@pushkinpress.com by Wednesday 10th April with a covering letter, CV and stating your current salary.
