Editorial and eBook Coordinator

  • Full time, permanent contract
  • Salary: £23,000 – 26,000 p.a.
  • Hybrid working potential, based in Central London (Holborn)

We are looking for a well-organised, enthusiastic and self-motivated Editorial and eBook Coordinator to support the Editorial team by coordinating circulations and checking imprint pages and ISBNs at all stages of proof, as well as taking charge of managing our programme of eBooks (20–25 titles per season). 1-2 years’ previous publishing experience will be an advantage, though you will be trained in all aspects of the role. You may have a degree, but more important to the role is a willingness to learn, common sense and clear thinking, exceptional attention to detail, an ability to multi-task and prioritize, and strong communication skills.

The Role

Coordination of circulations and checking of imprint pages, including:

  • checking prelims and supplying and checking ISBNs, barcodes and prices for all titles
  • checking ISBNs at all stages of proof
  • participating in and where necessary helping to drive the circulation of materials to and from Production (repro layouts, text pdfs, jacket artwork, proofs, plotters, etc)
  • liaising across teams, departments and with T&H Inc. (our US office) as necessary to assist with meeting deadlines
  • holiday cover for the Assistant Editor, Reprints.  This includes checking reprint corrections and other material including jacket copy and branding updates

Managing T&H’s digital conversions for eBooks, including:

  • preparing estimates and costing reports
  • working with Sales and T&H Inc. to finalize each season’s list
  • confirming eBook agreements with third-party US publishers as necessary
  • confirming that all text and image permissions have been cleared for eBook use
  • managing production and proofreading schedules
  • scheduling and coordinating the flow of material between Pre-Press, the conversion house and the Editorial team
  • keeping all aspects of the eBook list up-to-date on our digital publishing system
  • reporting to a regular eBook work-in-progress meeting
  • maintaining up-to-date training guidelines for editors
  • supplying final eBook files to Sales and T&H Inc. on schedule

     

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Superb organization and time management
  • Ability to be proactive, multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Experience of office and administrative work in a publishing context
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Professionalism
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience of Adobe InDesign and Acrobat Pro
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Numeracy, some commercial acumen
  • Desire to learn more about publishing
