Editorial Assistant, Maths

An opportunity has arisen for an Editorial Assistant to join a leading Educational publishing organisation where you'll provide support to the editorial team working on prestigious Maths Education publishing programmes. This role offers a competitive salary and hybrid working (1 day/week ideally in the Cheltenham office - reachable from Bristol, Bath, Coventry, Birmingham, Gloucester, and Oxford) and provides an excellent opportunity for a Maths whizz looking to develop a career in the Publishing industry.

The Maths publishing materials that this role supports are varied and rich in their resources, and as Editorial Assistant you will provide editorial support to ensure tight deadlines are met whilst ensuring educational content meets the editorial specifications. Key responsibilities will include (amongst others):

  • Accurately follow supplied editorial briefs (written or verbal)
  • Apply limited copyediting rules to correct written manuscripts and other materials
  • Proofread/check both print and digital content, checking mathematical equations and keying in equations using MathType and or LaTex.
  • Liaise with subject matter experts
  • Work collaboratively with team members, educational publishing clients and suppliers
  • Identify and apply ways of improving processes
  • Understand and use selected content management systems and/or content production tools
  • Use Microsoft Office to create styled content, using an appropriate template
  • Undertake other tasks as required

This varied role of Editorial Assistant is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to launch their career in publishing, and who has an enthusiasm for and a degree in Maths (or equivalent experience).
