Editorial & Communications Assistant

Are you passionate about entering the world of publishing? We have a super new role with a prestigious London based Professional organisation for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work as an Editorial & Communications Assistant.

This is an ideal role for someone looking for their first position in publishing.  The role will involve assisting the Managing Editor and Editor with coordinating, editing, publishing and promoting their flagship journal and other publications which are supplemental to this highly acclaimed monthly journal.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for various stages of the online manuscript submission system
  • Quality control checks of new submissions (First stage assessment, identifying missing data and corresponding with authors)
  • Notifying authors of reject and preliminary accept decisions
  • Responding to queries from authors and reviewers
  • Providing cover for the Manuscript Editor’s tasks during periods of absence
  • Running reports and coordinating reminder messages to authors and reviewers

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate to join a friendly publishing team where you will learn about the world of journals publishing. The successful person will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with sound IT skills, and ideally some experience within an office environment.  You will be passionate about a career in publishing; highly organised with a ‘can-do’ approach to your work; Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.  This position will offer exciting opportunities for personal and professional development.
