Due to continued growth, a major global academic publisher has two new exciting opportunities to join their Editorial Team, to focus on product development. This role will develop a viable commercial product pipeline for their Journals Editorial team and will focus on areas outside existing business.
Within this role you will:
- Develop a product development plan, focusing on areas outside existing business
- Evaluate and deliver product proposals in line with the product development plan, supported by appropriate referee comment, financial and market assessments
- Develop a pipeline of potential product for future evaluation and delivery and produce reports on development opportunities as agreed
- Work with technology, sales and marketing colleagues, and external stakeholders as appropriate to contribute towards development and planning of new product
- Monitor financial performance (current and future years), advise on forecast and review expenditure to ensure adherence to budget, reforecasting as necessary
- Monitor revenue projections for proposals that are in pre-approval stage to ensure overall targets will be met
- Produce multiple year profit and loss projections to support bids or acquisitions for new product
- Provide colleagues with other financial details on existing and forthcoming products as requested to support the business and operational requirements
To be successful the ideal candidate will have:
- Highly developed market research and analytical skills
- Excellent negotiation, presentation and communication skills
- Experience of Lean, Agile methodologies
- In depth experience in product development, ideally within the academic/research sector though this is not essential
- Strong commercial, planning and budgeting skills
- Good background knowledge of the academic/research sector
- Proficient presentation experience at senior executive and/or board level
